Health Data Quality eLearning Program

Introduction

The Health Data Quality eLearning Program delivers a comprehensive series of online trainings that cover key aspects of using health data in clinical research including hospital information systems and electronic health record, data protection regulations, clinical research informatics, interoperability, as well as data quality assessment and monitoring in clinical trials.

The program is designed for healthcare professionals who routinely capture health data, and for clinical research personnel who use health data to plan and execute clinical trials.

The content of the program helps to understand the value of that data to the organisation and to patients, for safe and effective continuity of care and for clinical research. The program has been designed by a multidisciplinary consortium supported by EIT Health.

Background

There is high interest, opportunity and initiatives for using and reusing health data (Real World Data) for research and healthcare improvement as well as better clinical management and trial operations. Although data quality is amongst the most important RWD challenges, there is no powerful and coordinated effort at a European level to promote awareness of what good data quality means, and on the dimensions of data quality that matter most for re-using RWD.

Health Data Quality program will provide Europe with a front runner educational program for professionals in creating and using high-quality health data.

Health Data Quality eLearning Program

The online program has 3 courses. Each  course includes different topics to guide you deeper in the world of data quality.

Course 1 – Patient Care & Electronic Health Record (EHR)

Course 2 – Clinical Research and Clinical Research Informatics

Course 3 – Introduction to Health Data Quality, Data Protection and the GDPR

The program is being introduced by Prof. Dipak Kalra (President of i~ HD)

Who should attend?

Professionals whose work involves handling health data.

From pharmaceutical sector such as clinical research managers, data managers, site managers, compliance managers, and RWE/Innovation leaders.

From healthcare sector such as clinical investigators, clinical trial coordinators, data managers, health Information and Communications Technology managers, chief information officers .

The course offers also an added value to:

  • Health care providers
  • Health and data strategy organisations
  • Academia and research centres
  • Patients organisations
COURSE 1

PATIENT CARE & ELECTRONIC HEALTH RECORD ( EHR)

This course will take you through a patient’s journey in a hospital and initiate you into the hospital information system and electronic health record (EHR). Aside from familiarizing you with the medical informatics terms and digital health standards, this course is illustrated through several success stories of innovative EHR and new trends in clinical decision support system (CDSS).

COURSE 2

CLINICAL RESEARCH AND CLINICAL RESEARCH INFORMATICS

This course  will provide an inside look at clinical trials and the digital technologies that are transforming them. These include electronic data capture systems, clinical data warehouse, registries, real world evidence, and artificial intelligence/machine learning.

COURSE 3

INTRODUCTION TO HEALTH DATA QUALITY AND DATA PROTECTION

Through concrete examples of data quality issues, this module will explain and illustrate the use cases for which computable health data can be useful and crucial. This is where you can further expand your knowledge of assessing and measuring data quality . You can also discover the different factors that are affecting data quality and the strategies and statistical methods to compensate and improve the quality of health data.

This course will also provide you with detailed knowledges on regulatory, ethics and cybersecurity;

  • Patient consent and rights
  • Data protection
