Members of the eSource Scale Up Task Force of The European Institute for Innovation through Health Data (i~HD) led an interactive panel session at the recently held SCOPE Europe 2024 in Barcelona, Spain on 30 October 2024.

i~HD’s Clinical Data Strategy Advisor Peter Casteleyn moderated the session called “Advancing Clinical Trials through Scalable eSource Integration: The eSource Scale Up Task Force” where the panel was able to introduce its history, evolution, objectives and other initiatives.

Sitting in the panel are representatives from different Founding Member organisations:

  • Lars Fransson – Senior Business Partner TA Clinical IT, AstraZeneca R&D
  • Paul Jacobs – Associate Director for Development Innovation, Regeneron
  • Joe Lengfellner – Senior Director for Clinical Research Informatics & Technology, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center
  • Felix Nensa – Professor of Radiology and Senior Consultant Radiologist, University Hospital Essen

The panel also discussed the requirements for success in scaling-up clinical trials with eSource data through the hospital and pharmaceutical perspectives, as well as the focus working areas for 2025 including the playbook and activities to extend data domains and landscaping the FHIR readiness in the European Union.
