The i~HD eSource Scale-Up Task Force has positioned eight Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) designed to revolutionise clinical trials by enhancing data quality and streamlining operations.
These KPIs establish a standardised framework for evaluating eSource systems, promoting data accuracy, operational efficiency and adoption. By setting clear metrics, stakeholders can make informed decisions, drive successful eSource implementation, and build a foundation for scalable, evidence-based trials.
Backed by industry leaders like AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, Regeneron, Sanofi, and supported by pioneering institutions such as Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, University Hospitals of Cambridge and University Hospital of Essen, this initiative ensures scalable, evidence-based eSource implementations.
“Through standardised metrics and a holistic approach, the eSource Selected KPIs framework fosters digital transformation and promotes consistent, evidence-based practices. By enhancing data quality, operational efficiency, and usability, this framework drives innovation and builds trust, setting the stage for scalable, impactful clinical research.” – Dr. Sarah W. Burge, University of Cambridge Cancer Research UK Cambridge Centre
“The eSource Selected KPIs represent a collective first step towards the effective measurement of solutions that will transform data delivery for clinical trials. The metrics and their associated methodologies will promote data accuracy and operational efficiencies as we move towards scaling these important technologies.” – Chris Harisson, Sr. Director, AstraZeneca
“Just as we demand robust evidence for new treatments before their adoption in clinical practice, we must apply the same scientific rigor to evaluating the tools and technologies used in the execution of clinical research studies. By publishing our eSource selected KPIs, we’re contributing to the evidence base needed to drive meaningful innovation and wider adoption of eSource technology in clinical trials.” – Joe Lengfellner, Sr. Director, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center
“The eSource Selected KPIs framework facilitates a cultural shift toward embracing digital transformation in clinical research, underscoring its role as a driver of innovation and improved trial outcomes.” – Felix Nensa, MD, University Hospital of Essen, Germany
These KPIs empower sponsors, hospitals, and trial sites to enhance efficiency, minimize errors, and deliver innovative treatments faster. By reducing site staff burdens and ensuring data integrity, the framework accelerates the adoption of eSource technology worldwide.
