2020 was a special year with the Covid-19 pandemic hitting our lives in many ways. Digital health information proved to be a crucial asset for clinicians, for the research community, for health authorities, for app developers and health-data-driven industry in general, and for patients, to understand, contain and contain the spread of the virus.
World-wide efforts to analyse big health data highlighted the need for smooth and trusted health data
connection between disparate health systems and also the need for countries to collaborate to share intelligence and help each other to identify the most successful strategies for this viral containment. The introduction of corona apps and vaccination strategies boosted awareness of health data privacy throughout all layers of society. The scaled-up use of health data revealed the existence and impact of gaps in health data quality assurance.
