Enriching the Opportunities for Clinical Research in European Hospitals: the EHR4CR Platform - Brussels, Belgium - 9 April 2014
Welcome to the webpage of the invitation-only launch of a Europe-wide Hospital Engagement Programme on the enhanced use of Electronic Health Records for Clinical Research. This conference was attended by decision-powered delegates from 100 hospitals that are Centres of Excellence across Europe, and by over 20 senior representatives from Pharma.
The event presented and demonstrated the results of the IMI project Electronic Health Records for Clinical Research (EHR4CR), which has developed a platform to accelerate and optimise services (e.g. recruitment) for clinical trials by connecting to the EHR system at each participating hospital securely and with full privacy protection.
Hospitals were offered higher efficiency in participating in clinical trials, a potential increase of their research income, as well as an enhancement of their reputation as centres of research. The EHR4CR services have already been piloted at eleven European hospitals, and have aimed to scale up to a commercially supported service.
For pharma, this implies reducing the time taken to conduct a clinical trial by many months and speeding up the delivery of innovative medicines to healthcare.
