On World Standards Day, i~HD joins the global health and technology community in recognising the vital role that standards play in delivering safe, high-quality, and innovative healthcare.
i~HD joins in celebration of World Standards Day 2026
The accurate, trustworthy, and secure representation, exchange, and analysis of health data depend on robust interoperability standards that enable seamless communication across healthcare systems, organisations, and borders. As a strong advocate for health data interoperability, i~HD actively supports the development, adoption, and implementation of international standards that improve healthcare delivery and accelerate responsible digital health innovation.
Interoperability is a core pillar of i~HD’s work. We collaborate with standards development organisations, healthcare providers, researchers, policymakers, and industry partners to promote standards adoption and help shape the next generation of health data standards. Through our involvement in international initiatives, including contributions to ISO and IEEE standards activities, and our support for the interoperability requirements of the European Health Data Space (EHDS), we are helping build a more connected health ecosystem. We are also developing educational programmes to equip clinicians and other non-technical healthcare professionals with a deeper understanding of interoperability and standards. This World Standards Day, we reaffirm our commitment to advancing interoperable health data and fostering a future where healthcare information can be shared securely, efficiently, and for the benefit of patients everywhere.
