Sofia Palmieri

Dr. Sofia Palmieri is an FWO postdoctoral fellow within Metamedica research group. Her research is positioned at a crossroads between law, ethics, AI, and healthcare. She investigates the perimeter of regulation for the safe, patient-centred, and evidence-based use of Artificial Intelligence in the medical field. After receiving a Master’s Degree in Law (magna cum laude) from the University of Bologna, she continued her Master’s thesis research at Centre for Biomedical Ethics and Law of KU Leuven. She conducted research both during her student years at Paris Nanterre University and later as a visiting researcher at Nova Law School in Lisbon and the University of Bologna. She also joined AI4Health – a subsection of AI4Belgium – as a core team member. Recently, she started as co-chair of the Young Scholar Interest Group of the European Association of Health Law and is also currently a visiting researcher at the University of Bologna.
